Most awnings have a tail that hangs down at least an inch or so even when they are all the way rolled up. The camper we use is like that. Couldn’t you pull on that edge?
I’ve had this happen before. One person on either end and unroll it manually, use gloves so if it slips out of you hands, you don’t get cut up. Have a third person grab the tail when it becomes exposed. Simple fix
Switch the lever to open and then you can roll out the awning by hand.Try to pull it from the center.As it rolls out the clutch in the mechanism will keep it from rolling back.

Maybe….. just get a wire hanger bend it correctly and go fish for it
